Not only is Global Warming a critical national and international issue, but up here in NH, it's local, too. Global warming is local, it's here now, it threatens New Hampshire's economic and community health and we believe the next president needs to have an effective plan.
Because of the presidential primary, New Hampshire is in a unique position to set the terms of national discourse. More specifically, the 2008 primary allows NH to have the opportunity to shape the national debate on climate change and energy policy.
In an effort to capitalize on this attention, NH is involved in a non-partisan grassroots initiative to bring a resolution to March 2007 town meetings statewide calling for action on global warming at the national and local levels. The Town Meeting Initiative is being organized by the Carbon Coalition, a non-partisan coalition of citizens, scientists, businesses, students, communities and organizations who've come together to advocate for a national energy policy that protects our communities and environment from the ravages of global warming caused by carbon pollution.
Currently the Carbon Coalition has over 200 volunteers working state-wide in over 175 towns to bring the issue of global warming to town meeting. Click here to read the NH Climate Change Resolution.
