LOUISIANA

Facing ever-increasing oil prices, the economy of Louisiana is in trouble. Dependence on oil and other fossil fuels is also contributing to global warming. If we fail to take action on climate change, the consequences for Louisiana could be significant. By ignoring global warming, Louisiana stands to lose 8,517 jobs! (i)

The economic impacts on Louisiana’s low-lying areas could be severe. Currently, Louisiana is losing 50 square miles of coastal wetlands per year, with the potential to lose much more. (ii)

At the root of our problems lies our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Louisiana is too dependent on fossil fuels, we need to make the switch to a clean-energy economy today. (iii)

Investing in clean, renewable energy can provide Louisiana with new energy jobs.

Louisiana has the potential to meet 70% of its energy needs through renewables. (iv)

In Louisiana, we need to continue to press for solutions to our climate problem. With aggressive leadership, we can add jobs, reduce pollution, and prevent coastal land from disappearing.
