UTAH

With ever-increasing fuel and energy prices, Utah’s economy is in trouble, and its residents are hurting. Our dependence on energy sources like oil and coal are also fueling global warming. Already facing a slowing economy, we cannot afford to allow global warming to continue. Studies show that combating global warming will have tremendous economic benefits. With a stronf investment to clean, renewable energy over ten years, the US economy will see 3.3 million new jobs. (i)

The root cause of our economic problems is our reliance on dirty fossil fuels. Today, Utah relies on fossil fuels for most of its electricity.

By developing cutting edge renewable energy technologies, we can create good jobs here in Utah.

Currently, Utah has the potential to generate nearly five times the energy it needs from clean, renewable sources. (iii)

In recent years, Utah has begun to act on global warming, pledging to reduce its global warming pollution by 15% before 2020. (iv)

The pledge is an important step, but we need effective leadership to climate change that will get our economy back on track.
